Intentional Storage On Display

It’s hard to believe we’ve been in our new space for over two weeks now! Living right in Minneapolis has been such a huge change for us, but we’re figuring out our new routine and falling more in love with city life each and every day. We’re also slowly chipping away at designing our new apartment; starting with the living room. Though still undecided about a sofa, chairs, and a coffee table, we have found some other helpful pieces for this space. One of those is this Shelf Ladder Bookcase by Project 62 at Target.

In an apartment as small as ours, there’s just not much closet space. And so shortly after moving in, we realized that we needed something extra that could serve as both storage and display. This bookcase was the perfect choice because it’s just that- a practical storage space that also allows for everything to be stored in the most visually appealing way possible. It’s the perfect place to keep all the things that we use often, and it’s intentionally designed to add to the atmosphere in the room; not take away from it.

Almost everything on this bookcase we use at least once a week (if not every day), and so we wanted to share it all with you guys. The most used item has to be my Day Designer Planner. I just started using it this month, but I feel like this is the planner I have been searching for my whole life! I actually wrote up a 3 whole paragraphs on why I love it, but I think that’s something I’ll save for another post 😉

We don’t own very many books; the few that we do own are our tried-and-true favorites, which we’ve been storing on the bottom shelf. For Tristan, one of those books is “God in a Cup: The Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Coffee”. For me, it’s “Uninvited” by Lysa Terkeurst.

We had originally intended for the round wire basket  and throw blanket to go on the bottom shelf as well, but it just didn’t fit well. We’re keeping it on the floor next to the bookshelf for now, but we’ll probably change that up in the future.

We love the super cute mail holder on the top shelf, and it’s the perfect place to put our mail so that we don’t miss anything! Also, we’re head over heels for the Cozy Nights candle from Target. It’s literally the our favorite scent ever, and the only candle scent we’ve bought since getting married a year ago.

Pretty much everything on our shelf has been linked at the beginning of this post so if you see anything you like, you can go check it out. We’ve been obsessed with Project 62 by Target lately, and so like 90% of everything in this post is from there!

Needless to say, we’re in love with this shelf ladder bookshelf.  In fact, we’re even considering getting another for the bedroom! What do you think? Let us know in the comments 🙂

Lots of Love,

  1. You are very neat and organized! The bookshelf is a brilliant idea. Now what I REALLY want to know is how you keep clutter off it. 🙂

Glad you liked it! We definitely make our fair share of clutter during the day, but we’ve been trying our best to go around and declutter/pick stuff up every night so that things nice and organized! 🙂
